"Mastered brilliantly": Wück's eleven gains self-confidence

With the 4-0 victory against the Netherlands, Germany secured first place in the Nations League group - and gained a lot of self-confidence with a view to the upcoming European Championship.

At the Weserstadion on Friday evening, the German women's team left no doubt that they would clinch the win. Goals from Linda Dallmann , Lea Schüller , and Sarai Linder made it 3-0 after a dominant 45 minutes. The German national team could have increased the score even further in the second half, but were naturally satisfied with the 4-0 final scoreline .

Head coach Christian Wück also expressed his opinion after the game on ZDF : "We set out to do this. We wanted to go into the game with a lot of confidence, wanted to show that we can dictate how the game unfolds - and the girls did that brilliantly today."

Game to zero "incredibly important"

What pleased the 51-year-old most was "that we kept a clean sheet. Given the result, it was incredibly important that the girls gain this confidence." However, in the recent past, it had been the defense that had repeatedly caused problems for the German women. Against the Dutch, however, the team defended with great concentration and barely allowed their opponents any significant chances throughout the entire match.

Now, with one matchday to go, group victory in the Nations League is already in the bag. Next Tuesday, the clash with neighboring Austria is still on the agenda, which is by no means insignificant for Wück, especially with a view to the upcoming European Championship in Switzerland: "I said we wanted to have a good preparation for the European Championship. We wanted to finish first in our group. We achieved that goal. But of course, we also want to win in Austria, because victories give you a lot of self-confidence."

Oberdorf "makes a very good impression"

Wück still couldn't say for sure whether Lena Oberdorf will be at the European Championships, but expressed hope for the 23-year-old's nomination: "She's training with us now and is making a very good impression." The midfielder is already "at the level of many other players. We'll continue to look at the whole thing, then sit down with Lena and Bayern, and then make a decision that everyone agrees on."
